Magnus Sjölin and Martin Skoger

We are delighted to announce the appointment of two new Market Directors to our growing Qualisys sales team.

Magnus Sjölin joins as Market Area Director, Scandinavia, and Martin Skoger is our new Market Area Director Engineering Europe. They bring with them vast experience across diverse industries and are well placed to help continue our technical development in our core business of biomechanics and sports research, but also new areas like automotive, marine and wind power.

They both have deep knowledge and strong contacts in the field of engineering, and will be looking to create opportunities and build new relationships across Europe.

Magnus Sjölin - Market Area Director, Scandinavia

Magnus joins as Market Director for Scandinavia with a remit that covers all Qualisys products and applications.

Magnus has a strong background in the automotive business having spent over a decade at Smart Eye, heading up their United States sales operation. Within a year, he had grown the US from the smallest business unit to the largest. From 2009 he helped navigate the team through the weakened automotive market and continuously achieved targets against the odds.

Still at Smart Eye, he travelled widely over the next few years, including spells in China, India and Brazil managing the company’s channel partner programme.

Prior to joining Smart Eye, Magnus worked for Lecab Material Handling, Motoman Robotics and then ABB, where he worked as software sales driver as well as area sales support manager for all ABB Robotics products.

Magnus is very much looking forward to his new challenges at Qualysis. In some ways he has come full circle back to where he began as a student in Gothenburg in the late 1980s.

“When I was studying engineering at Chalmers University of Technology, I was in the same location as Qualisys is now,” he says. “I have the exact same view as I did thirty years ago! I hope I’ve picked up a few things since then. Wherever I’ve been, I’ve always known that to sell effectively you have to believe in your product and in the technology. It was the technology that attracted me to Qualisys - as well as their approach to their customers. I’m excited to get out there and start building new relationships!”

Magnus lives in the Torslanda area of Gothenburg with his wife, and they have two grown-up children. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, cooking and fishing for mackerel.

Martin Skoger - Market Area Director Engineering Europe

Martin’s main area of focus is Germany, but he will have responsibility for engineering solutions across the whole of Qualisys Europe.

Martin has considerable international experience in sales and training roles having worked in the United States, South America and India.

He worked for Elof Hansson in the 1990s exporting machines and components to the paper and cellular industries.

He set up his own business in 1999 selling briquette presses and biofuel to the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, before joining laser measurement systems firm Damalini (now Easy Laser AB) in 2005.

Martin worked at Damalini from 2005-2015, and his experience there was perfect preparation for his role at Qualisys as there are many synergies between the two companies in the fields of marine, oil and gas and wind power.

He feels Qualisys has a great opportunity to explore diverse new industries outside its core business areas - and is also sure the company is a great fit for his sales style and business philosophy.

“It feels right here,” he says. “I have a lot to learn, but everyone I have met has been very supportive. The hardware itself is not so hard to understand, but the QTM (Qualisys Track Manager) software takes time to learn, and my colleagues have been an invaluable help in bringing me up to speed quickly. The team ethos is perfect. It is not just about the salesperson. It is about product and technical groups working together to ensure clients get the best level of expertise throughout the whole process. That, to me, is what sales is all about.”

Martin is a sports fan and in his spare time he coaches kids football and has a secret past as a demon 10-pin bowler! He lives in Gothenburg with his wife and two children aged nine and 11.
